One of the best features of a Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort vacation package is actually the most boring part: the terms and conditions. If you’re on the fence about booking because you’re worried life might get in the way and your Disney trip plans change, this is the part that should put you at ease. Note: this post is about Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort vacation packages only. 

Can I cancel my Disney vacation package?

Yes. If you cancel your Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort vacation package more than 30 days before your scheduled arrival, your $200 USD deposit is fully refundable. Inside 30 days, the deposit becomes non-refundable. Within 2 days of arrival, the full package amount is forfeited.

What happens if I need to change my Disney trip dates?

As long as you’re more than 30 days out from arrival, you can change your dates with no fee, subject to availability. I had a client this summer who needed to shift their travel dates just two months before arrival. Their resort was in high demand and their room category had very limited inventory, but with some close monitoring, we still got them into that same room category on their new dates.

Can I change my Disney hotel after booking?

Yes, as long as the new hotel is available and you’re more than 30 days from arrival. Your balance owing is simply updated to reflect the new price, with no modification fee.

Can I add more tickets or change my ticket type after booking?

Yes, as long as your tickets were booked as part of a vacation package and it’s more than 30 days ahead of your scheduled arrival. There’s no modification fee, and your balance owing is updated to reflect the change.

Can I add more people to my Disney vacation package after booking?

In most cases, yes, as long as your travel party still fits within the room’s occupancy limit. If the room can’t hold everyone, I’ll book the extra guests on their own package and connect the two reservations. The one thing that can’t change is the lead guest on a reservation, so make sure that’s locked in from the start.

Can I pay for my Disney vacation over time?

Yes. Many of my clients set up a monthly payment schedule or leave a card on file so they can apply payments toward their balance whenever it works for them, rather than paying the full amount in one lump sum.

Do I have to book my Disney vacation far in advance?

No – but it does offer you some advantages. Your $200 USD deposit is fully refundable up to 30 days before arrival, so there’s no financial downside to booking early. Booking early just gives you better hotel availability, more time to plan and pay over time, and the chance to benefit from any special offers that come out later, since I monitor every booked trip for new offers and apply them the moment they drop.
